Call2Recycle Recognized by California Group

The battery recycling program Call2Recycle has been recognized by the California Product Stewardship Council (CPSC) as one of four companies in California that have worked to promote and encourage sustainable practices in the state.

The CPSC made the announcement during its 4th Annual Arrow Awards ceremony, held during the California Resource Recovery Association’s 37th annual conference.

Since 1996, Call2Recycle says it has diverted more than 75 million pounds of rechargeable batteries from landfills, while establishing a network of 30,000 public collection sites across the United States and Canada.

“Receiving this prestigious award from CPSC reaffirms our industry stewards’ and program participants’ commitment to responsible battery recycling,” says Carl Smith, CEO and president of Call2Recycle, in a Call2Recycle press release. “Our program success is not only measured by the pounds that we collect, but is clear evidence of the positive impact product stewardship programs can have, both locally and nationally,” Smith continues.

Other recipients of the awards include Armstrong Flooring, The Carton Council and Ditto Brand Solutions. The organizations were recognized for product take-back, partnership building and system design and innovation in product stewardship.
