The California Integrated Waste Management Board has announced grant money for tire recycling programs in the state. The CIWMB has $2 million available for the grant program. Eligible applicants may request up to $250,000. California will award grant money on a competitive basis.
Eligible participants include research institutions, businesses, and individuals. Equipment purchased with grant money must remain within the state for five years. Eligible projects and products, after successful implementation, should consume at least 250,000 California passenger tires. Applicants must describe how the process or resultant products will or can be used to meet the minimum use requirements.
Primary consideration will be given to projects that produce molded rubber products.
All applicants are required to provide minimum matching funds equaling 50 percent of the grant amount requested.
