A Ukiah, Calif., roofing company has partnered with a construction firm to recycle roofing material, according to a report in the Ukiah Daily Journal (Ukiah, Calif.).
HLR Roofing takes about 80 percent of its tear-off to Granite Construction Co., Watsonville, Calif. In the case of a current job re-roofing buildings in a local shopping plaza, that amounts to about 90 tons of concrete tile roofing, according to the report.
Granite construction then crushes the material and reuses it for road surfacing and an aggregate base for roadways.
