California Collection Event Yields 700,000 Pounds of Electronics

California State University, Fresno, holds two-day collection event for obsolete electronics.

Electronic Recyclers of America (ERA) and California State University, Fresno, partnered in an event that resulted in the collection of nearly 70,000 pounds of electronics.

Local residents, businesses and students brought their unwanted or non-functioning electronics amounting to nearly 2,000 items, to the event, which was Jan. 20 and 21.

ERA has facilities in Fresno and San Diego. The company partners with HMR USA, based in San Francisco, to remarket working electronics, “unless the items fall under the ‘absolute destruction’ category to protect original owner privacy,” Chrissy Coughlin of ERA says.
