The Visalia, California, City Council approved a three-year contract with Sunset Waste Paper Inc. to provide a recycling coordinator to the city. The City Council took the vote Aug. 16.
According to the Visalia Times, the city originally entered into the contract with Sunset four years ago to coordinate the city’s recycling program after its earlier provider, Tulare County Recycling, was found to be lacking.
The coordinator will head recycling efforts under the city's direction. Responsibilities include planning and carrying out recycling programs, analyzing data to monitor programs, educating the public on waste reduction, among others.
