San Francisco Bay Areabuilding contractors and other business owners will have a chance to learnabout regional C&D recycling opportunities at an event to be held inRedwood City, Calif., June 21.
More than 500 buildingcontractors, engineers, road builders, architects and related professionals whoconduct business in San Mateo County and the Silicon Valley area have beeninvited to a C&D Recycling Vendors Show to be held at the CommunityActivities Building in Redwood City on June 21 from 1:00 to 4:00 p.m.
According to Gary Liss, aconsultant to the South Bayside Waste Management Authority, San Mateo, Calif.,the event is designed to showcase the recycling and salvage services andrecycled-content products available to those involved in the construction,remodeling, demolition, road building and landscaping industries.
Vendors involved inrecycling, re-use, deconstruction and composting in the Bay Area can rentexhibit space, while an open forum session will offer an update on localC&D recycling ordinances.
Sponsors include the SouthBayside Waste Management Authority, the California Resource RecoveryAssociation, and the Peninsula Builders Exchange.
Liss notes that San MateoCounty is one of the first regions to have enacted a C&D recyclingordinance. The law requires demolition contractors to pay a $50 per ton depositto the county that is fully refundable if the contractor can prove a 50% orhigher recycling rate for materials generated.
The June 21 Vendors Show isbeing fully underwritten by the South Bayside Waste Management Authority, so itis free to both attendees and exhibitors. Liss says 33 exhibitors have alreadysigned up for the show.
