C&D Landfill Decision Tabled in N.C.

County commissioners delay decision until May.

County commissioners in Forsyth County, N.C., have voted unanimously to delay making a decision on a plan to build a construction and demolition debris landfill in the northeast part of the county, according to a report in the Winston-Salem Journal (Winston-Salem, N.C.).

More than 100 residents attended a public hearing on Feb. 27. Many voiced opposition to the landfill plan, according to the report.

If approved, the facility would occupy a 434-acre site that straddles the border of Forsyth and Stokes counties. The county’s current C&D landfill will be full in 10 years, according to the report.

A decision on the matter will be delayed until May, according to the report.
