C&D Landfill Ban Proposed in South Carolina

State legislator proposes temporary moratorium on C&D landfill facilities.

State Rep. Dennis Moss (D-Cherokee County) has introduced a bill that would place a temporary moratorium on construction and demolition debris landfills in the state of South Carolina, according to a report in the Gaffney Ledger (Gaffney, S.C.).

Moss proposed the bill as a temporary measure until the state Environmental Protection Agency imposed stricter guidelines on the landfills.

There are more than 70 C&D landfills in the state currently, according to the report.
