The German group bvse is calling for Europeans to increase the plastics recycling levels. To promote their goal, the association recently released a brochure, The Way of the Waste Product, as a first step toward boosting the information on the opportunities in recycling plastics.
"We know far too little used in the fields which product quality can be recycled and are already used. We want to change," said Michael Scriba, chairman of the Association’s plastic recycling division. “We want to draw attention in the next 24 months, with new activities and spoke on this subject."
While many companies are aware of the quality specifications, a fear of acceptance, as well as declining margins have made developing markets even more challenging.
"Rather than aggressively represent the economic and ecological arguments (of using recycled plastic), the use of recycled materials is often shamefully silent. That can’t be the right way. Plastic processors and users here need to rethink and change course and come together for a positive image change, "says Herbert Snell, VP of the Federation bvse-secondary and disposal.
The brochure can be accessed by contacting the association at ziss@bvse.de.
