German organization Bundesverband Sekundaerrohstoffe und Entsorgung e.V. (BVSE) has announced the program it will present at its 27th International Recovered Paper Conference 2025, which will take place April 1 in Bonn, Germany.
BVSE has chosen “International recovered paper markets, global trends and regulatory developments” as its conference theme, and the organization anticipates its 2025 event will bring together about 500 experts and decision-makers from the entire value chain.
Three speakers and panelists at the event will focus on regional aspects of the global paper recycling sector on three continents.
Hans van de Nes of the Brussels-based European Recovered Paper Association (ERPA) will focus on the European market with a presentation titled “Walled off by law?”
Kelly McNamara, a Canadian analyst with Numera Analytics, will provide insight into the North American recovered paper market in a presentation titled “Trends, trade and turmoil.”
Finally, Hannah Zhao of the Beijing Fastmarkets RISI office will concentrate on Southeast Asia in her presentation titled “Regulation on the rise.”
The keynote speaker will be Gabriel Felbermayr, Ph.D., from the Austrian Institute of Economic Research, who will examine economic challenges and opportunities for the industry in a presentation titled “Multiple crises, multiple opportunities: What lies ahead in 2025?"
A panel discussion moderated by Andreas Otto of Germany’s Melosch Export GmbH and Patrick van den Berg of the Netherlands-based Peute Group will“discuss the implications of these global trends for the European recovered paper industry.
Additional presentations will address transportation and energy-related topics, with European Union packaging and extended producer responsibility regulations the focus of a panel discussion.
“In addition to the expert presentations and discussions, the International Recovered Paper Conference offers excellent networking opportunities,” BVSE says, adding that participants can exchange ideas and make new business contacts.
