BVSE to host conference on scrap, WEEE recycling

Two-day event will be held in Duisburg, Germany, in early November 2014.

Germany’s Federal Association for Secondary Raw Materials and Waste Management (BVSE) will be hosting a two-day conference that will address the scrap and WEEE recycling sectors. The conference, titled Industry Forum 2014, is scheduled for November 5-6 in Duisburg, Germany.

The Industry Forum 2014 will start with the Scrap Forum and lead over to the 13th WEEE Symposium on the second day. The Forum gathers industry representatives and gives room for networking and discussion with experts from recycling companies, politics and administrators.

During the Scrap Forum, scheduled Nov. 5, attendees will discuss a range of issues including:

  • How can scrap recycling companies deal with overcapacity
  • Decreasing margins and the growing substitution of scrap materials
  • How do legal requirements influence the industry and what effect do they have on recycling

A group of international speakers will address prospects for the European scrap recycling companies and identify the potential for optimization on the business level.

The second day of the Forum will focus on WEEE-related issues. The 13th WEEE Symposium is dedicated to the future of the recycling of waste electrical or electronic equipment. In Germany, the industry is still waiting for the implementation of the WEEE Directive. As the new law (ElektroG) is coming closer, the conference will inform on the status quo and planned amendments.

To provide attendees with information on how they can more effectively and efficiently operate their business, the BVSE says that its speakers will provide an inside look at public tenders and the competition on raw material markets and will offer case studies for financing in times of economic difficulty and effective corporate controlling.
