The Bureau of Middle East Recyclers (BMR), an association created in 2009 to represent metals recyclers in the Middle East region, says it recently concluded a successful third annual meeting, held in Dubai.
The third BMR Conference was held on February 22, 2014, and received “consistently good feedback and commendations from the delegates,” according to a BMR news release.
Representatives from several global and regional recycling associations were in attendance, including the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR), the Metals Recycling Association of India (MRAI) and the Ahmedabad Non-Ferrous Metal Exim Association of India (ANMA). Speakers and guests representing the Dubai Municipal Government and the Emirates Environmental Group (EEG) also were at the Dubai event.
A speech by Engr. Salam Al Sharif, president of BMR and chairman of Sharif Metals International, based in Sharjah, United Arab Emirates, addressed the importance of the Middle East region in the scrap metals trade and how the BMR can work hand in hand with other associations in the industry to uphold the scrap metals trade, promote recycling awareness in the region and share information.
