The 2005 California State Fair will include a design competition looking for ways to use scrap tires to make new building products.
The California Integrated Waste Management Board (CIWMB) is sponsoring the Tire-Derived Sustainable Building Product Design Competition, to be hosted at California’s State Fair, which takes place in Sacramento Aug. 12 to Sept. 5.
Entry forms for the contest are due in to the CIWMB by Friday, June 24, while completed entries are expected by July 15. According to the agency, entry into the competition is free and is open to individuals, students, groups, inventors, innovators who reside in California or companies based in the state.
Several awards will be presented at the Fair, and the “Best of Class, Best of Division,” and “Best of Show” entries will receive assistance from the CIWMB to market their products to the consumer industry.
