Budapest to Host 2011 Automobile Recycling Congress

ICM announces 2011 program topics.

Switzerland-based event organizer ICM AG is preparing to host the 11th International Automobile Recycling Congress (IARC 2011) in Budapest, Hungary. The event has been scheduled for March 23-25, 2011, at the Hotel Intercontinental in Budapest.

“Delegates from industry, authorities and academia will discuss and present news and challenges of the manufacturing and end-of-life vehicle (ELV) business,” says ICM in a news release publicizing IARC 2011. “The congress will bring together the various links in the ELV recycling chain such as car manufacturers, metal and plastic scrap traders, recyclers, shredder operators and policy-makers from around the world.:

Session topics will include:

  •  New cars and new recycling technologies
  •  Where are the new cars sold – where are they going to be recycled?
  •  Best available recycling technologies
  •  How do car manufacturers and the industry close the recycling loop?
  •  Reports from Asian, U.S. and European car manufacturers
  •  Worldwide reports on ELV recycling activities
  •  Reports about illegal export of wrecks
  •  European ELV Directive – a monster with no teeth?
  •  New quality standards for steel, aluminum and copper scrap
  •  A 1-day workshop on REACH (Registration, Evaluation, Authorization and Restriction of Chemicals) directive

The 2011 IARC will also include an exhibition area, cocktail receptions and a networking dinner. The congress is also offering plant tours of Budapest area recycling companies and car manufacturing plants.
