Bowater Inc. said the Department of Justice won’t oppose its acquisition of Alliance Forest Products. The deal is expected to be complete within the next week.
This spring Bowater announced plans to acquire the Canadian-based operation for $770 million. When the acquisition, Bowater will control around 20 percent of the North American newsprint market.
