Booe Machinery & Salvage expands Nebraska plant

The scrap metal company Booe Machinery & Salvage LLC is expanding its operations in McCook, Nebraska, with the assistance of grant money  the city has received that will be used to upgrade the industrial park where the scrap metal facility will be built.

The city of McCook has been awarded $108,000 in Community Development Block Grant (CDBG) funding, which will be used to pave and install gutters and storm sewers along the primary road leading to the McCook Industrial Park. The improvements will give Booe Machinery access to two lots where it is building a scrap metal recycling facility.

The city of McCook’s Economic Development Fund and the McCook Economic Development Corporation (MEDC) will complete the project.

Booe Machinery & Salvage has an existing operation in Atlanta, Nebraska.

Rex Nelson, MEDC executive director, says, “We are very pleased to see this project come together. In addition to the investment and job creation that Booe Machine and Salvage brings, we believe that their efficient approach to metal recycling will help convert much of the scrap metal that sits in our garages and backyards into a cash injection for the local economy.

“Just as important though,” Nelson adds, “is that having the paving completed for the McCook Business Park will be a real game changer in recruiting new business investments there. We appreciate the McCook City Council and city staff for their support for the project and look forward to working together as we fill the remaining sites with new economic activity.”
