A Bollegraaf office waste sorting system, two new feed conveyors, and a Bollegraaf HBC 100F baler were installed at Angelus Western’s recycling facility in Los Angeles. The installation resulted i in a 100 percent increase in production. The new equipment dramatically decreased energy costs and significantly reduced the required labor while consistently maintaining the facility’s tonnage rates.
The sort system is designed to process select commercial waste including high grade paper and OCC at a rate of 10 to 15 tons per hour. The system presorts the OCC with a cardboard starscreen. The system also uses an air system to suction the high grades into automatic bunkers and send them out to be baled. The system can run dirty loads as well as clean.
The HBC 100F baler, installed six months later, replaced a Two-Ram Enterprise baler, and increased production by 100 percent, while saving $3,000 per month in energy costs. The system eliminated an entire night shift and reduced the amount of people needed for baling operation from 6 to 2 employees.
