The Dubai, United Arab Emirates (UAE)-based Bureau of Middle East Recycling (BMR) convened for its seventh annual conference in March 2018 at Le Méridien Hotel in Dubai.
According to BMR President Salam al Sharif, who also is chairman of the UAE-based Sharif Group, the conference kicked off with “a glamorous joyful and networking cruise” on March 9, with conference sessions taking place March 10-11.
The two-day event “attracted regional and international industry leaders and experts who shared their valuable market insights into the copper, aluminum, stainless steel and ferrous” scrap recycling sectors, according to Sharif.
He says one panel discussion focused on business succession planning, and in all sessions presenters “also addressed the opportunities and challenges” in the industry in 2018.
During the closing remarks BMR Vice President Nasser Aboura of Aboura Metals announced that the eight BMR conference will be taking place at the same Le Méridien hotel, with the 2019 dates to be shared soon.
BMR Secretary General Mir Mujtaba of Mir Metals Trading LLC took part by chairing some of the conference’s panels and “moderating throughout the conference, along with committee heads,” according to Sharif.
The BMR’s officers also extended their support for the Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) Global Recycling Day, which took place on March 18, 2018.
