Bluewater, a Los Angeles-based company that operates globally in the battery and solar equipment life cycle management sector, says 2025 has been a year of "robust growth” with its participation in several projects.
Over the last 12 months, Bluewater has decommissioned 25 megawatts (MW) of battery storage capacity, bringing the company’s total to more than 175 MW of battery storage decommissioned to date.
The company says in the past 12 months, it recycled 1 million pounds, or 500 tons, of batteries, increasing its cumulative total to more than 3,000 tons of batteries recycled. Bluewater also repurposed or reused 380 megawatt hours (MWh) of batteries, helping it surpass 1.8 gigawatt hours (GWh) of batteries repurposed or reused worldwide.
On the solar panel front, Bluewater has remarketed 200 MW of surplus solar panels in the most recent 12-month period, boosting its a total to 250 MW of solar panels re-marketed during its company history.
Bluewater's operations recently have grown globally, expanding into Italy, Hungary, Spain and Poland, bringing its total to 19 countries served worldwide.
“This global reach strengthens Bluewater’s ability to deliver rapid, compliant and sustainable solutions to a diverse international client base,” the company says.
The company says the 2025 activity in its Solar Division marked the strongest area of growth demonstrated by Bluewater, saying it responded to surging demand in the second-life solar equipment market.
Bluewater says utility-scale solar energy plants increasingly rely on it to source and deliver matching equipment, including surplus solar panels, inverters, converters and battery energy storage system (BESS) containers, helping those customers keep their systems online, reduce downtime and avoid costly project delays.
“Our results this year reflect both the growing need for circular solutions in clean energy and the trust our partners place in Bluewater,” Bluewater CEO Ben Firestone says.
“By adding 25 MW of decommissioned battery storage, 1 million pounds of recycled batteries, 380 MWh of repurposed batteries and 200 MW of remarketed solar panels, we’re enabling our customers around the world to maximize asset value and maintain momentum toward sustainability goals."
