Bianca Mannini has joined the Brussels-based Bureau of International Recycling's (BIR's) advocacy team as a trade and environmental policy officer,
Mannini has a background in political science, and BIR says her dedication to sustainability has been central to her career. She gained experience in sustainable development goals (SDGs) through her previous work for bioindustries and climate and energy projects. Mannini also founded a nonprofit organization in Italy to raise awareness against single-use plastics and to encourage local and regional sustainable practices, collaborating with businesses and nongovernmental organizations (NGOs).

In the Netherlands, she managed projects focused on preventing plastic pollution and promoting circularity globally. BIR says her experience in the plastics sector will be valuable for her work within the advocacy team, where she will cover commodities including paper, tires and rubbers, textiles and plastics.
Originally from Italy, Bianca studied in Belgium, Ireland and the Netherlands, which BIR says gave her perspective on international policy and fluency in English, French and Spanish.
“Bianca’s expertise and commitment to sustainability make her a valuable addition to our advocacy team,” BIR Director General Arnaud Brunet says. “We are very pleased to have her join BIR and are confident she will significantly contribute to our global efforts.”
