Christer Wallsten, vice president Raw Materials of the stainless steel producing company AvestaPolarit, will address delegates attending the Stainless Steel & Special Alloys Committee plenary session at the Bureau of International Recycling’s Spring Meeting, May 29-31 in Monte Carlo.
Wallsten’s intention is to show how scrap demand will be exploding if today’s consumption patterns are maintained. Will the new giant producing companies be fighting over an increasingly precious raw material?
AvestaPolarit is one of the world’s leading stainless steel producers. The company was formed in January 2001 in the merger between Avesta Sheffield and Outokumpu Steel.
AvestaPolarit has production plants in Finland, Sweden, the UK and the United States. The group has an annual stainless steel melting capacity of about 2 million metric tons, increasing to 3 million with the completion of ongoing expansions.
