The Shredder Committee of the Brussels-based Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) will offer several presentations, including an update on its safety survey, at a Tuesday, June 1, online session that is part of its 2021 World Recycling Convention & Exhibition.
About two years ago, BIR initiated a survey of shredder owners and operators worldwide to identify the main areas of injury risk. BIR says the feedback of respondents has been analyzed and will be reviewed by Christopher J. Bedell of the United States-based David J. Joseph Co., who helped organize the survey, and BIR Trade & Environment Director Ross Bartley.
The June session also will include an update of the BIR’s World Shredder List and a focus on equipment available for capturing unwanted air emissions from shredders. Air quality presenters will be Martin Dörner of Germany-based equipment maker Venti Oelde and Frederick Thoma, of Belgium-based Lybover AIR.
Moderating the one-hour session is BIR Shredder Committee chair Alton Scott Newell III of U.S.-based Newell Recycling Equipment.
