BIR Announces Speakers for Fall Meeting

The Bureau of International Recycling has announced the schedule for its Paper Division meetings. The session will be held Oct. 26 in Amsterdam, Netherlands.

The first speaker scheduled for the meeting is William Moore, president of Moore & Associates, an international consulting company engaged in providing a range of market research and strategic services to the paper recycling industry. In his speech, Moore will focus on the status of the world recovered paper market.

The second speaker scheduled at BIR is Peter Hall, managing director for APL in the UK and Ireland. APL is an international container transportation company. Hall will highlight certain aspects of the logistics for the international recovered paper trade.

The third speaker will be Trilochen Singh of RKS International Sales, a subsidiary of BIR member company Recycling Karla Schmidt. He will be talking about the recovered paper industry as a strategic partner.

The Paper Division also announced that it has nominated the Spanish paper group SAICA to receive the BIR Papyrus Award. SAICA is the leading company in Spain in the manufacture and sale of paper for corrugating. It has five production centers and seven paper machines in Spain and France, making it one of the leaders in Europe, with a production capacity of 1.5 million metric tons per year of paper for corrugating.

The company also is the largest paper recycler in Spain. At present, the company recycles 2.1 million metric tons per year.
