Gabrielle Walker helps businesses from different sectors to address global challenges such as climate change and plastics.

The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) announced that Gabrielle Walker will be the keynote speaker during the World Recycling Convention & Exhibition May 20-22 in Singapore. The keynote session will take place at 3 p.m. Tuesday, May 21.

According to BIR, Walker helps businesses from many different sectors everywhere in the world to address global challenges—with a focus on climate change, plastics, sustainability, the circular economy, energy (oil and gas, utilities and renewables), mobility, finance and agriculture/land use. She has presented dozens of TV and radio programs for the BBC and has written extensively for international newspapers and magazines, including The Economist, Prospect, The Wall Street Journal and The New York Times

Walker is the author of four books including co-authoring the bestselling book “The Hot Topic,” which discusses how to avoid global warming. According to BIR, Al Gore described the book as “a beacon of clarity” and by The Times as “a material gain for the axis of good.”

Some of Walker’s favorite topics include new approaches to product design; the financial benefits of circularity; the future of low carbon shipping; and investment risks and rewards associated with climate change.

Walker has a Ph.D. from Cambridge University and has taught at Cambridge and Princeton Universities.
