The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR) has announced that commodity forecaster Jason Schenker will deliver the keynote address at the BIR World Recycling Convention and Exhibition that is set for June 1-4, 2014 in Miami.
Schenker is expected to discuss the topic of how the current global economy is affecting the recycling industry, with an emphasis on the economies of the United States, Latin America and China. Schenker’s address is set for June 3. Schenker’s keynote presentation, titled “Where the global economy and recycling intersect: Shining a light on the future of recycling,” comes as regional tensions afflict Asia and Eastern Europe. That uncertainty has had knock-off effects in financial and commodity markets across different commodities, the BIR reports.
Schenker is the founder and president of the commodity and financial research firm Prestige Economics, based in Austin, Texas. Schenker has also worked for McKinsey & Company as a risk specialist and senior consultant and for Wachovia as an economist.
