The Bureau of International Recycling (BIR), Brussels, has announced that Max Craipeau, CEO of Ireland-based Greencore Resources, will be chairman of the Tyres & Rubber Committee.
Craipeau began working in the recycling industry more than 10 years ago as a nonferrous trader in collaboration with Marc Natan, former president of the BIR Nonferrous Metals Division, before launching his own trading business from Hong Kong in 2011, focusing on scrap rubber and plastics.
Craipeau is well known in the tires and rubber scrap industry, both in Europe and Asia, where he has been developing innovative recycling solutions using an extensive network of suppliers and end users, BIR reports.
Craipeau says he intends to get more companies from outside the European market involved in the committee to add a global dimension to the committee’s scope of work. “There are many challenges facing the tires recycling industry worldwide,” he says. “The BIR Tyres & Rubber Committee is the ideal forum to further develop our strategies and actions.”
