BioCellection Inc., a company based in Menlo Park, California, that developed a chemical platform to transform polyethylene (PE) scrap into performance materials, has announced that Dr. Jennifer Le Roy, former director of research and development at BioCellection, has been appointed as the company’s chief technology officer.
BioCellection has been focusing on developing and commercializing sustainable performance materials derived from its novel chemical recycling platform called Accelerated Thermal Oxidative Decomposition. As chief technology officer, Le Roy will lead the company’s development and execution of short- and long-term technical strategies.
“I look forward to helping BioCellection demonstrate market leadership as a provider of sustainable performance materials,” Le Roy says. “BioCellection is well positioned to fast track the circular economy. Our technology platform demonstrates that there does not need to be a trade-off between quality, price and sustainability. I am excited to lead a team that prioritizes our environment and I am confident we can deliver an ideal platform to address the growing demand for high-quality, sustainable material solutions.”
“It’s rare to come across a scientist and a leader who is equally committed to driving quality science and making a positive impact in the world,” says Miranda Wang, co-founder and chief executive officer at BioCellection. “Jennifer has set a high bar at BioCellection for what we’re about. In the five years that I have served as co-founder and CEO of BioCellection, I have seen our technology grow from an idea to a scalable chemical process, and Jennifer’s joining the team has brought us to our biggest technical inflection points so far. I know that as chief technology officer, Jennifer will lead the team to new heights.”
Prior to her role as chief technology officer, Le Roy served as the company’s director of research and development (R&D). In the span of one year, she refocused R&D efforts from commodity chemicals to performance materials. Prior to joining BioCellection, Le Roy spent 10 years in academia, working on numerous green technologies, most recently as an independent research fellow at the University of Oxford.
