Bulk Handling Systems (BHS), headquartered in Eugene, Oregon, has announced the opening of its new customer testing and evaluation center (CTEC) in Nashville.
According to BHS, the industry-first facility provides in-person and virtual testing of customer-provided waste streams, evaluated in real time with BHS equipment and systems.
“Our test loop has the ability to sort material through four of the world’s most advanced sorters,” says James Cole, managing director of BHS Technology & Automation. “The test center is seamlessly controlled by our TIP (Total Intelligence Platform); from speeds of conveyor belts [and] sorting recipes to a patented Autonomous Container Line.”
The demo loop features several BHS products, including a pair of Max-AI Flex robots and the SpydIR-HS optical sorter. Customers can choose either the Max-AI AQC-2 robotic QC (utilizing the patented intelligent End of Arm Tool, or iEOT) or the Max-AI AIR direct eject QC machine.
As a fully integrated system, BHS says its TIP system can demonstrate material characterizations at every stage of the process, allowing BHS and its customers to test new technology features. The CTEC will provide training for BHS’ customer service and support teams. BHS also invites public interest groups, media, municipalities and prospective customers to tour the facility.
“BHS’ demo autonomous sortation loop provides an excellent opportunity to see their equipment sort recovered material in real-world applications, helping [material recovery facility] operators and other stakeholders evaluate performance before making an investment,” says Jordan Fengel, executive director of the Denton, Texas-based Carton Council.
Access to the facility is by appointment only. Visits and testing can be scheduled on a priority basis via a request form. Existing BHS customers also can reach out to their local service or sales representative to schedule a visit.
