BHS and Synmet Forge Distribution Agreement

U.S. and European manufacturers agree to transoceanic distribution.

Screening systems maker Bulk Handling Systems (BHS), Eugene, Ore., and Synmet Holding BV of The Netherlands have signed a cooperation and distribution agreement that reaches across Europe and North America.

Synmet, a supplier of turnkey recycling installations, has been granted the exclusive distributorship of the full BHS product range in Europe starting immediately. Additionally, BHS will have exclusive distributorship in North America of Synmet-Nihot air separation systems, which BHS is calling “a perfect add-on to the BHS product range.”

For Synmet, the BHS line represents an extension of its product range in turnkey solutions for the paper and cardboard recycling market and the market for other dry recyclables, according to a joint news release issued by the two companies. BHS products can also be applied in other market segments, including municipal solid waste, commercial and industrial waste, and C&D debris.

In North America, initially BHS will become exclusive distributor of Synmet-Nihot air separation systems including the Windshifter and the Drum Separator. ”The addition of the Nihot air separation capability is an important addition to our current range of products,” says Steve Miller, President of BHS. “We are particularly excited about our ability to provide state-of-the-art air separation technology to both glass clean-up from single stream systems and the automated separation of C&D and municipal solid waste material,” he continues. “Nihot is widely regarded as the air technology leader in Europe and we are pleased to be bringing this technology to the U.S. “

Adds Rutger Theunissen, Synmet’s corporate strategy director, “The U.S. market forms a great opportunity for Synmet solutions. Our technology for waste recycling and the experience we have built up over the years in supplying our solutions to the waste recycling market in Europe, are very well transferable to U.S. waste streams.”

Synmet makes equipment involved in size reduction, separation and compacting marketed under four brands: Artech, BOA, Hidding and Nihot.

BHS makes screening systems used in single-stream, fiber and commingled container separation, C&D recycling and commercial and industrial waste recycling. The company has developed a leading position in the European market. Over the last 10 years it has been represented in Europe by distributor KIC International.
