Best Buy teamed up with the city of Thousand Oaks, Calif., to collect electronics waste from resident and businesses in the city at the retailer’s Village Square store Sept. 17-18.
Since the program’s inception in 2001, Best Buy has held more than 40 recycling events in nearly 20 states collecting 1.6 million pounds of electronics for recycling. Events frequently draw thousands of vehicles filled with unwanted computer monitors and computer equipment, televisions, old radios, outdated speakers and other electronic equipment to be unloaded by recyclers.
In addition to the collection program, Best Buy offers recycling of cell phones, inkjet/toner cartridges and rechargeable batteries everyday in every store across the nation. Recycling containers for these items are located in the front entrance of all Best Buy stores.
