The German scrap recycling trade association the Stahlschrottverband in Deutschland (BDSV) says it welcomes the expansion of the German government’s Internet-based vehicle registration process.
The Düsseldorf-based association says Germany’s Federal Ministry of Transport has presented a comprehensive set of proposals relating to Internet-based vehicle registration that also addresses the vehicle deregistration process necessary before end-of-life vehicle (ELV) recycling can occur.
The proposed draft could make communication “between the registration office, vehicle manufacturers and [the] Federal Motor Transport Authority significantly simplified,” says the BDSV.
The association says it is still seeking additional changes, including the automatic inclusion of the certificate of destruction in the de-registration procedure and other ways to make the certificate of recovery transfer process easier. “However, at least many technical data requirements have now been created that allow the future automatic processing of the recovery certificate between dismantling companies and the Federal Motor Transport Authority,” states the BDSV.
