Battery Solutions hires vice president of corporate development

Shane M. Thompson has been named to the newly created position.

Howell, Michigan-based Battery Solutions, a provider of battery recycling services and systems, has announced the addition of Shane M. Thompson to the newly created position of vice president of corporate development.

Thompson will be responsible for the integration of Battery Solutions’ new technologies while driving sales growth and new customer acquisition. He will report directly to Battery Solutions’ CEO Thomas Bjarnemark and become an integral member of the management team, according to the organization.

Prior to joining Battery Solutions, Thompson began his own private consulting firm, where he helped found RediMet, a startup working in the field of metals recycling and mineral sales. This followed several years at Kinsbursky Brothers Inc., Call2Recycle and Inmetco.

“Shane understands this industry in a way few do,” Bjarnemark says. “Few people bring hands-on, entrepreneurial process and market development, with rare earth metal sales development, plus industry trade group knowledge and perspective. The experience Shane brings to Battery Solutions in the field of managed and integrated battery recycling is really quite unique. Shane’s comprehensive understanding of the marketplace, and the opportunities it will provide, is going to be a real asset as we go about implementing our aggressive growth strategy,” he adds.

Thompson says, “I was pleased to accept this position for three reasons. First, I know the outstanding reputation Battery Solutions has earned within the industry, one of leadership and innovation. Second, I know and believe in Thomas’ vision and Battery Solutions’ ability to deliver growth with industry-leading service as we enter new markets and employ new technologies to meet the needs of our customers. And, finally, I know Battery Solutions has great people and great core competencies from which we can build upon. It’s an exciting time, and I’m looking forward to the challenge.”

Thompson joined Battery Solutions March 2, 2015, and will work out of the company’s Howell corporate headquarters.

Battery Solutions offers end-to-end life cycle management and customized recycling services for all battery chemistries to corporations, government entities, municipalities and consumers throughout the United States.
