Battery Group Reports Recycling Rate

The Battery Council International recently released its 1995-1999 National Recycling Rate Study. The report finds that between 1995-1999 the battery industry collected and recycled 93.3 percent of the lead from lead-acid batteries.

The BCI tracks the recycling of batteries from automobiles, trucks, motorcycles, marine, garden tractors and other lead-acid battery users.

BCI has been tracking the recycling rate of battery lead since 1987. The recycling rate of battery lead has consistently ranked higher than other recyclable commodities including newspapers, aluminum cans, and plastic and glass bottles.
