Early this week, Batteries Plus became the official battery recycling partner of the NFL’s Dallas Cowboys, agreeing to a multiyear partnership that aims to make battery recycling easier, safer and more accessible as well as further an overall effort to strengthen energy independence in the U.S.
The partnership boosts Batteries Plus’ presence in the NFL, with the Hartland, Wisconsin-based company previously partnering with the Green Bay Packers in its home state. According to Batteries Plus, that partnership with the Packers helped double recycling volumes across Wisconsin in one year.
With the addition of the Cowboys, Batteries Plus is seeking to further elevate battery recycling in Texas, Oklahoma and beyond.

Starting this NFL season, fans who recycle batteries at participating Batteries Plus locations in Texas, Oklahoma and surrounding areas will be entered for chances to win prizes, including tickets to a Cowboys home game and official team merchandise.
All eligible entries also will be entered into a grand prize sweepstakes, which includes four tickets to a Cowboys home game, pregame sideline passes, roundtrip airfare, hotel accommodations and a behind-the-scenes tour of the Cowboys’ world headquarters.
"The Dallas Cowboys are proud to welcome Batteries Plus into our family of partners," says Jacob Stone, Dallas Cowboys senior vice president of corporate partnership sales and marketing. "We're excited to deliver special access for fans to the team they love, while helping make a meaningful impact towards better recycling outcomes across Texas and surrounding markets."
The partnership also includes an educational component with exclusive educational content co-created by the Cowboys and Batteries Plus.
According to Batteries Plus, its research shows 51 percent of fans have never recycled a battery and only 23 percent believe it’s easy enough to incorporate into their regular recycling efforts.
To boost battery recycling awareness, Batteries Plus will have an integrated presence across Cowboys channels, including appearances from the Dallas Cowboys Cheerleaders and team mascot Rowdy at select battery collection events, educational messaging featured on the “Hangin’ with the Boys” weekly podcast and 105.3 The Fan radio station, digital features on the Cowboys’ website and app, social media campaigns and giveaways and in-stadium signage.
"Our 730 stores make the important act of recycling made simple," Batteries Plus CEO Scott Williams says. "Cowboys fans are some of the most passionate in the world, and if we can inspire even a fraction of that loyalty to carry over into changed recycling habits, the impact could be enormous. We're proving that fandom can fuel real change for America's energy future."
