Baker Iron & Metal, based in Lexington, Ky., opened its new Lexington yard with a ribbon-cutting ceremony in July.
The company, which was founded in 1921, purchased 20 acres on Old Frankfort Pike for a new recycling facility to augment its existing facility on Rockcastle Avenue.
Baker says the project has added 10 jobs. The site features a Harris GS11 shear, which Baker claims will make the company more efficient.
Wilbur and Ken Cohen, the owners of Baker Iron & Metal, attended the event, as did Baker General Manager Greg Dixon, Kentucky Congressman Ben Chandler, Lexington Mayor Jim Newberry, Kentucky Cabinet for Economic Development Deputy Commissioner Ken Robinson and Commerce Lexington President and CEO Bob Quick.
