B-TEK Scales in conjunction with Controls & Weighing of Tampa, Florida, announced that it is providing a solution for a load-out system for an Alabama auto manufacturer.
B-TEK and Controls and Weighing created a set of truck scales to assist this stamping manufacturer with accurately weighing their metal.
The target weight for each trailer load is provided, to ensure trailers are filled to maximum legal weight. The scales verify the amount of scrap leaving the facility per trailer. Once one trailer is full, the system will switch loading into the other trailer automatically.
The scales were installed within an existing load-out steel structure. The job required low-profile scales due to clearance under the structure. Traditional truck scale weighbridges would have been too tall and placing them inside a pit too expensive.
The scales were for the trailer axles and dollies only and the middle steel panels that rest on the ground are also known as a "dead" panel. Once the concept, design and fabrication of the scales were completed in Canton, Ohio, the scales were transported to Alabama where Controls & Weighing did the installation.
