New Albany, Ohio-based Axium Packaging is crediting sustainability aspects of its Vertix recycling subsidiary as one factor in its ability to reach 15 years in business.
The company, a manufacturer of packaging components for multinational consumer product companies, was founded by Pushminder and Paul Judge in Ontario. Now, the firm is based in New Albany and operates from about two dozen facilities in North America.
“Our rapid growth and continued success are a testament to the company’s commitment to innovation, customer service and sustainability, as well as our more than 3,500 employees who have made this all possible,” Axium Packaging President Paul Judge says.
“I’m incredibly proud that Axium continues to set the packaging industry standard for quality and efficiency with the regular introduction of new technologies that reduce production costs and environmental impacts."
Axium Packaging launched its operations in March 2010 with six desks and three plastic packaging manufacturing machines in Mississauga, Ontario, near Toronto.
Pushminder Judge previously had worked for plastic packaging companies in Ontario dating back to the 1970s, as well as creating a company called Matrix Packaging, which he sold in 2008.
By 2025, Axium’s operations include extrusion blow molding, injection stretch blow molding, injection blow molding, injection molding, tube extrusion and decoration and finishing.
Axium says its performance is further buoyed by its Vertix recycling subsidiary, which it says allows it to support customers’ sustainability goals by incorporating postconsumer recycled plastic in many of its products.
On its website, Vertix says it works in coordination with five material recovery facility (MRF) operating partners that supply it with material to reprocess about 2.9 tons of plastic per hour, or 25,000 tons per year. Vertix focuses on recycling high-density polyethylene (HDPE) plastic.
Axium Packaging customers include producers of personal and home cleaning supplies, food, pharmaceuticals, health care and nutrition products who conduct business globally.
