Axion International Holdings Inc., New Providence, N.J., has begun the demolition of the current structures at the Fort Eustis Army Transportation Corp. military base. The demolition work is being done to replace the spans with two new railroad bridges made from Axion's 100 percent recycled plastic structural products.
The U.S. Army commissioned the bridges last year and the construction is expected to last four months. The company is providing all of the parts for the two recycled structural composite bridges. All of the parts of the bridges are being made from Axiom products except the bolts and steel fasteners, the company notes.
