George Eliades, executive vice president of the Automotive Recyclers Association, recently addressed a group of automotive recyclers in Europe during a meeting of the European Group of Automotive Recycling Association in Brussels, Belgium.
During his address, Eliades gave background and an overview of automotive recycling in the United States and presented automotive recycling as the highest form of recycling: reuse.
He also identified issues of concern and ARA’s approach to addressing and resolving such problems as VIN Condemnation, salvage availability, mercury in vehicles and the re-introduction of unsafe vehicles to the unaware motoring public, among other items.
Eliades also discussed factors influencing the market for quality OEM used parts and identified opportunities to expand used parts sales. His remarks were well received by an attentive audience.
Eliades said, “they (EGARA) were very happy ARA was present at the meeting and my comments were very well received. EGARA, itself, and the Executive Directors of the national automotive recycling associations in Europe that comprise EGARA are looking forward to meeting in Las Vegas to further our discussions.”
A meeting of international automotive recycling associations from Europe, Canada, Asia, Australia and the United States is planned for Las Vegas immediately following ARA’s Mid-Year Business Development Conference to continue and expand on the dialogue of common concerns and approaches to resolution.
