ARA set to kick off its 2016 convention

Automotive recyclers’ get-together takes place in Baltimore Oct. 26-29.

The Automotive Recyclers Association (ARA) will be hosting a series of events within the framework of its 73rd Annual Convention & Exposition, which takes place at the Baltimore Convention Center Oct. 26-29, 2016.

The ARA says among the highlights of its convention are a keynote session the morning of Thursday, Oct. 27, 2016, that will feature remarks from Joe Picard, chief economist of the Washington-based Institute of Scrap Recycling Industries (ISRI).

That session will be followed by a Recyclers Roundtable addressing the topic of “Tackling the Tough Issues.” Other topics addressed that morning include catalytic converter sales and yard (facility) management systems.

Events on Friday, Oct. 28, include the Ladies of Automotive Recycling Association (LARA) Breakfast and presentations addressing commodity prices and a keynote speech from Tanvir Arfi of software provider Solera Holdings. That evening the ARA Awards Dinner & Presidential Gavel Passing takes place.

The ARA, founded in 1943, acts to represent the interests of the more than 4,500 auto recycling facilities in the United States and those in 14 other countries around the world.
