Switzerland-based event organizer ICM AG has announced that the 10th International Automobile Recycling Congress (IARC) will be held at the Basel Congress Center in Basel, Switzerland, March 3-5, 2010.
“The congress will bring together the various links in the ELV (end-of-life vehicle) recycling chain such as car manufacturers, metal and plastic scrap traders, recyclers, shredder operators and policy-makers from around the world,” the ICM states in a news release.
The organization has called for papers, noting that sessions will focus on several topics, including:
· The impact of disposal fees on the car industry (“cash for clunkers”)
· How to stay green in tough times
· ELV recycling reports of Asian, U.S. and European authorities and NGOs
· How do car manufacturers close the recycling loop?
· Is law enforcement needed to create a level playing field among the recyclers?
· Solutions for shredder fluff: What‘s the best available technology?
· Waste-to-energy solutions
· Technology innovation in plastics recycling
· A special session on the scrapping of military vehicles.
An exhibition area will be part of the event, as will cocktail receptions and a networking dinner, according to ICM.
The event will also include plant tours, with a car manufacturing plant, an auto shredder, a shredder fluff recycling plant, a hazardous landfill clean-up site and an electronics and plastics recycling plant all potentially to be offered.
