Visy Plastics, an Australian-based recycling company, has received approval by the U.S. Food and Drug Administration for the company’s process for recycling PET plastics for food-contact packaging.
The FDA’s approval is the first time approval has been given for taking used, mixed plastics containers from curbside collection and recycling them into food packaging.
According to a release by Visy Recycling, the company is planning to undertake a significant push to increase volumes from its PET plastics collection.
