The Supervisory Board for the Germany-based copper smelter and recycling company Aurubis AG has appointed Frank Schneider a member of its executive board. He will be responsible for the recycling/precious metals division, effective May 1, 2013. He will succeed Michael Landau, who will retire on May 31, 2013. Schneider also will take over the position of Aurubis’ director of industrial relations.
Schneider previously worked at the Solvay group starting in 2002, most recently as head of industrial operations RBU Essential Chemicals Europe. He was responsible for 18 European sites and 4,700 employees in this position.
"We are pleased that we have found a competent and internationally experienced manager for this interesting position who will continue the successful development of Aurubis together with the other executive board members," says Heinz Jörg Fuhrmann, chairman of Aurubis’ supervisory board. "The supervisory board would also like to thank Dr. Michael Landau for his many years of committed service to Aurubis."
Aurubis produces around 1 million metric tons of copper cathodes each year. The company estimates that about one-third of the raw material it uses to make it copper products comes from copper scrap.
