Boston-based August Metals LLC has expanded with the addition of August Metals South in Houston.
Company owner Adam Gutow-Ellis launched August Metals South to serve the scrap metal and alloy markets in the South and southwest.
He founded August Metals in 2016 after previously working at Southwestern Scrap Materials in Dallas, which his family owned. He expanded that company, which had warehouses in California, Wisconsin and Pennsylvania, into a national supplier to foundries and specialty alloy producers before merging it with another firm.
Throughout the past 31 years, Gutow-Ellis has managed physical operations in the scrap metal industry with more than 125 employees and inventories with annual turnover of 120,000 metric tons.
August Metals South specializes in managing and trading scrap metals and alloys. It can handle inventory from multiple industries, including aerospace, oil and gas, refining and original equipment manufacturing, according to a news release from the company. August Metals South also can study a company’s scrap reclamation processes with the goal of boosting sales and enhancing its bottom line. It provides recycling metrics to customers through monthly reports.
