Atlas Copco Introduces MB 1500 Hydraulic Breaker

The MB 1500 completes Atlas Copco’s medium-duty hydraulic breaker line.

Atlas Copco Construction Tools, Westfield, Mass., has introduced its latest addition to the medium-duty hydraulic breaker line, the MB 1500. The MB1500 is designed for demolition, road work, trenching and secondary rock breaking. The new unit joins four existing models to complete Atlas Copco’s medium-duty range of hydraulic breakers.

Weighing 3,310 pounds, the MB 1500 is suitable for carriers in the 17 to 29 metric ton weight class. The breaker accepts hydraulic input flow of 32 to 41 gallons per minute at operating pressures of 2,320 to 2,610 pressure per square inch.

The breaker features an AutoControl monitoring system, which allows the breaker to adapt its frequency and power output to match operating conditions.  The MB 1500 also features a StartSelect system, which allows start-up and shut-off to be adjusted to fit jobsite conditions. In AutoStop mode, the breaker will not fire until the operator applies down pressure on the working tool, the company says. AutoStop eliminates blank firing by circulating the hydraulic oil internally under low pressure when down pressure is not applied to the tool, Atlas Copco adds.

The VibroSilenced damping systems and ContiLube II are additional standard features of the MB 1500. The VibroSilenced system is designed to alleviate excess noise and vibration, while the ContiLube II is an automatic lubrication system mounted directly on the breaker.

The MB 1500 uses a working tool with a diameter of 5.3 inches. Tool options for the breaker include the moil point for multi-purpose use, the flat chisel for rock breaking and demolition and the blunt tool for recycling concrete, breaking rock and reducing oversized material.
