"I'm sure there were many new and innovative wireless products given out as gifts this holiday season," Largent says. "We want to remind everyone who may have received a new device to make sure and recycle the wireless products and accessories you will no longer be using."
Largent encourages consumers to bring their used wireless devices or accessories to a carrier retail store for recycling. "It's a very simple and consumer-friendly process, and we encourage all wireless consumers to take full advantage of it," he says.
Every national wireless carrier and many regional carriers are part of the industry's voluntary recycling initiative called "Wireless...The New Recyclable." This public outreach and awareness campaign was kicked-off several years ago to provide consumers with information about the importance and ease of recycling wireless devices, according to the CITIA.
Largent invites consumers to visit the industry's recycling Web site -- www.recyclewirelessphones.com -- to learn just how easy it is to recycle used wireless products.
CTIA is the international association for the wireless telecommunications industry, representing carriers, manufacturers and wireless Internet providers.
