The Asphalt Institute has announced a number of seminars and special programs being offered in 2005 and 2006.
The Asphalt Pavement Thickness and Design Seminar will be offered Aug. 30, 2005, in Anaheim/Fullerton, Calif., Sept. 1 in Seattle, Oct. 17 in Boston, Oct. 19 in Atlanta and Oct. 21 in Minneapolis.
The one-day course provides an overview of the Asphalt Institute thickness design methods for highways, airports and heavy wheel load applications and introduces participants to the SW-1 Thickness Design Software.
Asphalt Institute engineers will instruct attendees on the use of the software to design pavement structures as well as how to conduct structural analyses.
A two-and-a-half day course called Achieving Volumetrics and HMA Compactability will be held Jan. 17-19, Feb. 7-9 and March 7-9, 2006—all sessions will be offered at the Asphalt Institute’s headquarters in Lexington, Ky.
The course will instruct attendees in the Bailey Method of Gradation Selection—a tool for developing and analyzing blend gradations in the lab and field to better understand aggregate packing and its influence on mix volumetrics and compactability.
An airport pavement workshop will be offered Oct. 25-27, 2005, in Philadelphia and April 4-6, 2006, in Dallas. The goal of this workshop is to provide up-to-date information for those designing, construction and managing asphalt airport pavements.
The Institute’s Lexington, Ky.-headquarters will host two additional workshops in 2006. The Asphalt Binder Technology Course will be Jan. 10-13 and Feb. 14-17, 2006. The HMA Mix Design Technology Course will be Jan. 30-Feb. 3 and Feb. 27-March 3, 2006.
