Asphalt Associations Elect New Officers

Elections and speakers featured at combined annual meeting in Florida.

The Asphalt Recycling & Reclaiming Association (ARRA) has elected Stephen Damp of Miller Paving Co., Markham, Ontario, Canada, as its president for the 2005-2006 term.

 

Damp has been involved in the highway construction and pavement maintenance industry for more than 30 years and a member of ARRA for 12 years, having served in a number of association offices.

 

Other 2005-2006 officers elected were Vice President Tom Johnson, MidState Reclamation Inc., Lakeville, Minn., and Secretary/Treasurer Greg Brown, Brown & Brown, Salina, Kan.

 

The elections took place at the combined annual meeting of the ARRA, the Asphalt Emulsion Manufacturers Association (AEMA) and the International Slurry Surfacing Association (ISSA) held in March in Bal Harbour, Fla.

 

At the same meeting, the AEMA elected John Carrick Jr. of McAsphalt Industries Ltd., Scarborough, Ontario, Canada, as president for 2005-2006.

 

Other 2005-2006 officers elected to the AEMA were Vice President Robert Koleas, Western Emulsions Inc., Dana Point, Calif., and Secretary/Treasurer Barry Baughman, Ultrapave Corp., Resaca, Ga.

 

The ISSA elected Nigel Kerrison of Emoleum, Marleston, Australia, as its president. Other new officers include Vice President Randy Terry, Terry Industries, Hamilton, Ohio; Secretary Don Kaiden, Ballou Construction Inc., Salina, Kan.; and Treasurer Mike Buckingham, Strawser Inc., Columbus, Ohio.

 

Nearly 400 delegates representing close to 150 pavement preservation and rehabilitation companies attended the combined annual meeting. In addition to individual meetings and elections, the attendees heard more than 40 speakers during the four-day event.
