Arrow Electronics Inc., Englewood, Colorado, has acquired the Essex, U.K.-based RDC, a wholly owned subsidiary of Computacenter UK Ltd., for roughly $84 million.
RDC, formed in 1991, is a technology returns and asset management company operating throughout Europe. RDC manages the entire IT asset disposition and remarketing process, including logistical management of collections, technical processing and secure data eradication or destruction and remarketing of the assets. The company says that it handles more than 1.5 million pieces of electronic equipment each year.
“This acquisition further broadens Arrow’s value recovery business in Europe,” says Michael Long, chairman, president and CEO of Arrow. “RDC will allow us to better address the growing requirements of our global customers.”
As part of the transaction, Arrow Electronics has entered into a five-year operating agreement with Computacenter for IT disposal services, which remain a part of Computacenter’s customer proposition.
Arrow Electronics is a global provider of products, services and solutions to industrial and commercial users of electronic components and enterprise computing solutions. The company has a global network of more than 460 locations in 58 countries.
Arrow Electronics was profiled in the June 2014 issue of Recycling Today magazine.
