Armex Receives Grant For Tire Project

Company matches grant money for tire recycling machine.

Armex recently received a grant of $34,000 from the state of Ohio Department of Natural Resources Division of Recycling & Litter Prevention. The money will go toward a research and development project to improve the efficiency of the company’s Krumbuster tire processing equipment. The company will invest a matching amount of money for the study project.

The Krumbuster is a reduction mill designed for the final step of converting recycled tires into a fine crumb rubber product. The Krumbuster replaces conventional cast iron mills by providing increased production capacity at lower costs.

Krumbuster benefits include maximized crumb production, more production output with less energy use and expense, less down time and lower maintenance costs, small footprint with more installation flexibility, reduced weight; immediate savings in shipping costs, provides the best ROI in the crumb rubber reduction equipment marketplace.

“Ohio is a lead innovator in scrap tire recycling,” said ODNR Director Sam Speck. "Each year millions of scrap tires that may have taken up valuable landfill space are finding new life in recycled products. These scrap tire grants are instrumental in giving communities and businesses the support they need to creatively reduce tire waste."

Those eligible for the grants include businesses sponsored by, educational institutions, solid waste management districts, authorities, municipalities and non-profit organizations. Matching funds were required to be at least equal to the grant amount.
